Thanks Roger for the reply. Mine was 3 years degree. So they mentioned that it is not equvilent to U.S. Bachelor degree. They did not have any issue with my experience which is more than 5 years.

You don't need a visa to transit in Frankfurt - meaning if you are catching another flight to a non-Schengen state (like India). Else, all "interview", visa stamping (even for other Schengen states), etc. happens in Frankfurt.

Depends. My I-140 was filed on Nov. 7, 2006 with Texas Service Center. As a Christmas gift, on Dec. 14th, 2006 I received an RFE (because my lawyer screwed up with my letters of experience. He did not send them!). My lawyer did not even send me the RFE notice (he said "it contains confident employer information") - which was surprising - as he used to be very prompt with eveything else. To make a long story short - after 2 months, my employer complained to the law firm and the lawyer was fired. The new lawyer handling my case sent me the RFE notice and then I knew why I was not given the RFE letter. It asked for my experience letters! The new lawyer responded to the RFE notice on March 1st (just in time too - respponse was to received by March 10th or something like that). My I-140 was approved on April 17th (Easter gift?).
If you remove the 2 months wasted by the attorney, I would say that the I-140 was approved in 2 1/2 months.

I've been trying to research this out of my own curiosity. All candidates speak in rather vague terms at this point in the campaing, but based on the candidates' own websites and media, here's what I've found:
Let's start with Obama:

Obama also introduced legislation that passed the Senate to improve the speed and accuracy of FBI background checks. (:))
"Respect Families: Obama introduced amendments to put greater emphasis on keeping immigrant families together." (Does this include keeping temporary worker families together? :confused:

BUT... Here is what Obama said on the Senate floor in June 2007 when the subject of points-based immigration system came up:

The bill before us changes a policy that, while imperfect, has worked well and will replace it with a new, untested, unexamined system to provide visas to immigrants who look good on paper, but who may not have any familial or economic ties to our country.�
"..they support the amendment because the new points system shifts us too far away from the value we place on family ties and moves us toward a class-based immigration system.."
�Our current immigration system delivers the lion�s share of green cards � about 63% -- to family members of Americans and legal permanent residents, while roughly 16% of visas are allocated to employment-based categories. He's making some vague but good promises about fixing the system, and seems to be aware key issues like FBI namechecks. But the track record of what he has done in the Senate is pretty horrible. The points system would have given a huge advantage to anyone working in the US currently and Obama played a big role in taking that off the agenda.

Hi,
I am trying to apply for an emergency advanced parole to visit my critically illed granma back home.
I have a pending I-131 application with the receipt date of Aug 14th. I understand that I can goto my local USCIS office to apply for emergency AP, is that right?
What document do I need? I have a hospital letter with their letter head. What else do I need? And is there anything specific things that need to be included in the letter?
Also, is there anyone who has suuceed, or failed to get one with medical emergency of family memeber?
Any advice/feedback/sharing will be very much appreciated. I have an appointment with the local USCIS on Tuesday.

One of my friend with PD Jul 2001 EB3 India is still waiting for his GC. His name check was cleared 4-5 months back and not sure what he was waiting for.....

Your kid is eligible to apply for SSN and you can apply because SSN not only meant for work, it is also for tax purposes. FYI - If you are residing in California or Chicago, No restrictive text will be printed on SSN card. Hope this helps!

If you live ourside of US and work for an non-US Company then you are not in H-1B; you will be in Spanish resident visa status. However, on your return to the previous company in the US, you can recepture the time spend in Spain on your H-1B visa.

California used to finish the labor cert in 7-8 months even in 2004, 2005, just before BECs started.
I got my state labor approved and then it went to the San Francisco office in Dec 2004 and got it approved in June 2005. I am glad it didnt go to backlog center coz they were just starting up at the time.
Hmmm, then how come my labor filed in 2002, approved by SWA in 2003 was still pending when BECs were created (and then went to Philly to rot further)?
So no -- California DOL sucked big time (at least for cases filed from California, it was somewhat faster for Washington, Arizona, etc.)

This has been bugging me for a while now. I applied for I-485 in July 2007.
I do not have copies of all H1 approval notices ever issued. I do not have all of my I-94s ever issued.
Per attorney's recommendation, I applied for duplicate copies of I-797 but that will take a few months.
I am wondering what I can do if USCIS asks for all I-797s and I-94s since first ever entry to prove that I have always been in the US legally.
Any thoughts.
Don't want to waste anyone's time. If anyone has been in this situation or knows of anyone that was in a situation like this..that would help.
I want to be proactive and get other documents ready if that is what it'll take.

Helping us is not good election strategy. Bringing amendments in favor of family immigration was good lection strategy. Talking against outsourcing is good election strategy.

First make sure if that was an arrest record or some thing else. During the interview process, they will ask the standard questions on I-485 form, which are like have you ever been arrested etc. Even though your lawyer may not present, you check with your lawyer what to answer for those questions. Even though you may not be knowing exactly what it is, it is better to get it clarified rather than learning during the interview process.

And they charged fine of $300 and we paid it. They also took copy of her passport and gave a letter (name is: Department of homeland security. U.S customs and border protection. Notice of alleged violation)
It was my wife's mistake actually, she did not declared meat products in customs form.
In the interview, if IO asks my wife about any violations or criminal records, does she has to give info on that port of entry incident? Will there be any negetive effects on this?
